Guest speaker Fred Volkmar, MD an Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Psychology at the Yale University Child Study Center, School of Medicine, will focus on issues of dual diagnosis in high functioning adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (also commonly referred to as Asperger’s Syndrome). The objectives of the event are to provide understanding about the nature and extent of changes in autism outcomes over time; information about co-occurring conditions in individuals who have autism, especially co-occurring with anxiety and mood disorders; and approaches to treatment.
